Zoom University is in full effect! Temple has now been fully remote for almost two weeks and I know I am struggling to try and keep my focus and sanity while staring at a computer screen all day. I have noticed a routine that helps me get through my week stuck inside and would like to share it with you, along with some tips.
Tip #1: Change of scenery!!
I am currently residing in my parent’s home and have my childhood bedroom as my new workspace. Staring at my Disney princess wallpaper all day can get very tiring. I take my classes in my room then do my homework outside to get outside. If you have somewhere to go other than your room for work, do it! A new workspace helps so much with my focus.
Tip #2: Take a break!!
For me, junior year has been my most stressful yet. I am constantly looking for assignments to complete and emails to respond to. While schoolwork is important, it is also extremely important to give yourself a break. Reward yourself! Go for a walk! See a friend (socially distanced of course). Go for a drive if you have your driver’s license! Driving around my hometown blasting music always takes me back to my childhood and escapes the reality of school for a tiny bit. It has also helped to clear my mind.
Tip #3: Focus on your mental health!!
As one who is struggling with anxiety, it is not fun and can take over your entire day. It is so so important to put your mental health first. If you need a mental health day, TAKE ONE! I promise you one day of relaxation will not hurt. It will help you in the following days to take care of yourself first.
Tip #4: Reach out to me if you are struggling!!
I am always here to help you guys and love chit-chatting with you all. Tell me about your day, your significant other, family, friends, I want to hear it all!
I hope this helps you guys a little bit as ZoomU is taking over. Stay safe and healthy!
