What it’s Like Working as an Essential Worker During COVID-19

Ever since I was 17 years old, I have been working at Red Robin. I’ve been serving for a year now and have good days and bad days.

During COVID-19 I have been working and attending to loyal customers. We opened up our patio seating a few weeks ago when Allentown, PA hit the yellow phase.

There are many things we are doing differently to ensure safety to our customers. All employees are required to wear masks and gloves at all times. Nobody is allowed into the restaurant except for bathroom use. We also carry a limited menu right now because we do not have access to some key menu items.

I have noticed since working that people are more caring and understanding. People tend to have more patience in a time like this.

I recommend to everyone to work in a restaurant at least once in your lifetime. I have met so many different kinds of people and value the life lessons I have learned so far.

It teaches you how to have tough skin and realize there are more important things in life.

I have so much respect for all the essential workers working so hard to keep everyone healthy and happy.

Thank you frontline doctors for all you do, thank you drive-thru workers for supplying everyone with food, thank you everyone who is risking their lives during COVID-19.
